9-13-17 Open Circle Luncheon

Students at Main Street School were welcomed into the cafeteria on Wednesday, September 13th for our first “Open Circle Luncheon” this year.  These luncheons are designed to reinforce skills that students are learning through the Open Circle curriculum in the theme areas of friendship, cooperation, problem solving, feelings, leadership, and celebrating differences.  The theme for our first luncheon was friendship, and the students photographed below were recognized for their developing skills in this area.  These student photographs will also be displayed during this month on a bulletin board outside the Main Office.  The literary characters highlighted are from two popular children’s book series, Henry and Mudge and Elephant and Piggie.  We use characters from books to support the themes.  Students were “loaned” these particular books over the summer to kick off their reading. Congratulations to the students who were honored during today’s luncheon as well as the students who were recognized for their summer reading!

Congratulations to the students pictured here for being recognized at an Open Circle Luncheon for demonstrating their problem solving skills!  The Exeter Fire Department visited Main Street School second graders to celebrate all of their reading they have completed during the month of March for the Stop, Drop, and Read Program.  This is an annual program sponsored by the Exeter Fire Department to encourage a lifelong love of reading.  Congratulations to all second grade students who participated in the program, and a BIG thank you to the Exeter Fire Department, especially firefighter Matt Greene, for continuing to support our students!
