November 2017 Open Circle Luncheon

The students pictured above were recognized on Wednesday, November 8th for their problem solving abilities.  These students sat at the table of “honor” during their lunch on this day.  Through the Open Circle curriculum, students at Main Street School learn many strategies for solving problems.  One of these ways uses a visual of a traffic signal when faced with a problem.  Students can use the colors of the signal;  red (stop), yellow (think), and green (go) to work their way to better problem solving.  Ask your child about the traffic signal and how it can help them with their skills!

10-4-17 Open Circle Luncheon

Main Street School has partnered with the local NHSPCA in Stratham to raise funds for animals who were displaced by the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida.  “Pennies For Paws” is a way for students at Main Street to learn about how we can cooperate with a local community organization to help animals in need.  These funds will be used to buy food and supplies for the recent influx of animals at the shelter.  Students pictured above were recognized during our most recent Open Circle Luncheon for their outstanding cooperation skills.  The well known characters of Frog and Toad joined us for lunch on this day because they are always working hard to cooperate and solve problems.

4-5-17 Open Circle Luncheon

Congratulations to the students pictured here for being recognized at an Open Circle Luncheon for demonstrating their problem solving skills!  The Exeter Fire Department visited Main Street School second graders to celebrate all of their reading they have completed during the month of March for the Stop, Drop, and Read Program.  This is an annual program sponsored by the Exeter Fire Department to encourage a lifelong love of reading.  Congratulations to all second grade students who participated in the program, and a BIG thank you to the Exeter Fire Department, especially firefighter Matt Greene, for continuing to support our students!

Read Across America was celebrated all week at Main Street School with many fun activities planned including an Open Circle Luncheon for students. Students pictured here were recognized for their acceptance and ongoing efforts of recognizing other’s differences.  Here at Main Street School we teach the students to be accepting of people’s differences and learn about unique abilities and talents of everyone.  Way to go!
